Wingate Rises in Final Division II AVCA Coaches Poll

ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – Wingate University was tabbed No. 20 in the final AVCA Division II Coaches Poll after the Bulldogs' appearance in the national quarterfinals.

The Bulldogs (32-2, 19-1 SAC) went 9-1 to end 2018. Wingate is the lone team in the top-25 to have just two losses. On the season, the team claimed the SAC regular season championship, the SAC tournament championship, and the NCAA Division II Southeast Region title. Rachel Alles was named SAC Player of the Year and the Region Player of the Year, while also picking up All-American honors from D2CCA and AVCA. Phoebe Havenaar collected All-America accolades from AVCA. Coach Shelton Collier was also named SAC and Region Coach of the Year.
