The South Atlantic Conference Announces Seeding for 2018 Volleyball Championship
ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) –Wingate won its 12th South Atlantic Conference Regular Season Championship in the last 13 years, as it captured the 2018 Title on Saturday (Nov. 3). With the crown, the Bulldogs have earned the No. 1 seed in next week's South Atlantic Conference Volleyball Championship after finishing the season with a 19-1 Conference record.
Anderson earned the No. 2 seed as it finished the South Atlantic Conference season with a 17-3 record. Lincoln Memorial claimed the No. 3 seed with a 14-6 SAC record. Carson-Newman and Lenoir-Rhyne finished with identical 11-9 records in conference play. The Eagles broke the tie with the Bears, thanks to a 2-0 head-to-head record versus Lenoir-Rhyne, giving Carson-Newman the No. 4 seed and Lenoir-Rhyne the No. 5 seed. Queens and Mars Hill also completed the regular season with a tie. Both teams finished the year 10-10 in SAC play. Queens took the No. 6 seed by virtue of its 1-1 record versus Anderson, giving Mars Hill the No. 7 seed.
Rounding out the championship field is the No. 8 seed Catawba. The Indians finished the season with a 6-14 record in conference.
The 2018 South Atlantic Conference Volleyball Championship quarterfinals will be played at the highest seeds on Tuesday, Nov. 6 before moving to Coker College for the semifinals and finals on Nov. 9 and 10, respectively. The South Atlantic Conference Tournament Champion receives the League's automatic bid to the 2018 NCAA Volleyball Championship.
