The South Atlantic Conference Announces WePlayed Sports Women's Outdoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week
ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – The South Atlantic Conference announced its WePlayed Sports Women's Outdoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week for meets contested during the second week of competition. Lenoir-Rhyne's Alexis Brown earned the track honor while Anderson's Avery Marshall earned the field honor.
Brown, a junior sprinter from Mableton, Ga., won the 100m and 200m at the Raleigh Relays, taking down mostly DI competition. Brown ran a time of 11.13 in the 100m, the second fastest wind-legal time across all NCAA divisions. She set a new personal best and ran the third-fastest DII time in history in the 200m with a mark of 22.67 seconds, the fastest time across all NCAA divisions.
Marshall, a freshman jumper from York, S.C., won the women's pole vault event at SWU Gotta Run Invite, clearing the 3.66m bar for a personal record. That mark is also a school record and a SAC-best mark.
