The South Atlantic Conference Announces WePlayed Sports Women's Outdoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week
ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – The South Atlantic Conference announced its WePlayed Sports Women's Outdoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week for meets contested during the first week of competition. Catawba's Madi Clay earned the track honor while Anderson's Avery Marshall earned the field honor.
Clay, a junior distance runner from Morganton, N.C., finished as the top collegiate runner in the 5K at the Charlotte 49er Classic on Friday, besting runners from Division I schools Queens, USC Upstate, Charlotte and Mercer. Clay posted a mark of 17:01.13
Marshall, a freshman jumper from York, S.C., finished tied for 3rd of 16 athletes in the women's pole vault at the 49er Classic, clearing the 3.56m bar. In her debut collegiate outdoor meet, she tied her PR and sits tied for 1st in the conference in the event (alongside teammate Jenkins).
