Six Records Fall on Day One of 2024 SAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships
HICKORY, N.C. – Six SAC records fell on the first day of the 2024 SAC Men's and Women's Outdoor Track & Field Championship, held at Lenoir-Rhyne University.
Four new records were set on the women's side. Lenoir-Rhyne set two track records, as Alexis Brown set the new 100m dash record with a time of 11.04 and Carolin Fuehren posted a new 800m record of 2:12.20. Carson-Newman's Kadidja Sangare set the new long jump record with a 5.93m jump, while Tusculum's Caley Sosnowski set the new javelin record, hitting the 49.05m mark.
On the men's side, two records fell. Lenoir-Rhyne's Jacob Wadsworth set a new long jump record at 7.66m, while Wingate's Ricardo Barbosa set the new record in the 1500m run with a time of 3:51.14.
Through day one, Wingate leads the women with 77 points, followed by Lenoir-Rhyne with 38 points and Anderson with 35. The Bulldogs also lead the men's field with 91 points, followed by Lenoir-Rhyne with 47 and Newberry with 35.
