The South Atlantic Conference Announces WePlayed Sports Women's Outdoor Track & Field Athletes of the Week
ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – The South Atlantic Conference announced its WePlayed Sports Women's Outdoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week for meets contested during the seventh week of competition. Wingate's Sira Bo was named the Track Athlete of the Week and Carson-Newman's Kadidja Sangare was named the Field Athlete of the Week.
Bo, a distance runner from Tarragona, Spain, had a huge night at the Charlotte Invitational, setting a new school standard in the women's 3000 meter steeplechase with her time of 10:46.81. Bo lowered the previous school record by 11 seconds. Her Friday night time is the fastest in the SAC this season and an NCAA Division II provisional mark.
Sangare, a sophomore, placed second in the women's long jump at the App State Open. She finished the event with a 6.12-meter leap, which was both a new personal best mark and a new school record for the Eagles. Her mark is No. 1 in the SAC and No. 7 in NCAA Division II.
