The South Atlantic Conference Announces WePlayed Sports Women's Outdoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week
ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – The South Atlantic Conference announced its WePlayed Sports Women's Outdoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week for meets contested during the third week of competition. Catawba's Madison Clay was named the Track Athlete of the Week while Tusculum's Caley Sosnowski was named the Field Athlete of the Week.
Clay, a sophomore from Morganton, N.C., set a new school record in the women's 10000m at the Raleigh Relays this week, lowering the previous mark by nearly 37 seconds. Her time of 34:07.09 placed her twelfth overall, was an NCAA provisional mark, and is the second fastest time in Division II in the event.
Sosnowski, a freshman from Oxford, Fla., moved into third place in Division II in the javelin as she posted a winning mark of 45.89 meters at the Blue Bear invite. Her throw broke the previous school record of 44.11 meters that was set in 2021.
