The South Atlantic Conference Announces WePlayed Sports Women's Indoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week
ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – The South Atlantic Conference announced its WePlayed Sports Women's Indoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week for meets contested during the second week of the indoor track & field season. Wingate's Sira Bo earned the track honor while Carson-Newman's Kadidja Sangare earned the field honor.
Bo, a distance runner from Tarragona, Spain, finished fifth in the Grand Valley State University Holiday Open mile run with her time of 4:52.32 on Friday. Her mark is a new Wingate school record and an NCAA Division II provisional time. Bo's mile run time is fourth on the NCAA Division II season performance list.
Sangare, a sophomore from Alphen-Aan-Den-Rijn, South Holland Netherlands, grabbed gold in the women's long jump with a 5.96-meter leap for the fourth-best mark in Division II. Additionally, she hit a qualifying time of 8.86 seconds in the women's 60m hurdles prelims and was a member of the 4x4 relay that earned a sixth-place finish with a time of 4:24.42.
