LR's Brown and Wingate's Sorrells Take Home SAC WePlayed Sports Indoor T&F Athlete of the Week Honors
ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – The South Atlantic Conference announced its WePlayed Sports Women's Indoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week for meets contested during the sixth week of competition. Lenoir-Rhyne's Alexis Brown earned the track honor while Wingate's Ennessey Sorrells garnered field honors.
Brown, a junior sprinter from Mableton, Ga., won the 60m dash and ran a NCAA Division II-leading time of 7.26 at the Doc Hale Virginia Tech meet. In the 200m dash, she ran a season-best time of 23.73 which ranks second in all of Division II. She added a 10th place finish in the long jump with a leap of 5.54m.
Sorrells, a senior jumper from Portsmouth, Va., leaped 11.66 meters in the triple jump this weekend at the Doc Hale Virginia Tech Invitational. She was the silver medalist in the 2024 SAC Indoor Championships with her mark of 11.88 meters.
