Tusculum's Hart and UVA Wise's Strouth Named SAC WePlayed Sports Women's Indoor T&F Athletes of the Week
ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – The South Atlantic Conference announced its WePlayed Sports Women's Indoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week for meets contested during the first week of competition. Tusculum's Jahzara Hart earned the track honor while UVA Wise's Braelynn Strouth earned the field honor.
Hart, a junior sprinter, set program records and won the 60 meters and 200 meters at the Commonwealth College Opener. Her time of 7.37 seconds in the 60m is the fastest in Division II this season, while her time in the 200m of 24.42 seconds is currently the sixth-fastest in the nation.
Strouth, a freshman multis from Multis-Pound, Va., set a new school record and personal record for the trimple jump as she jumped for 11.85 meters (35' 7.25") to place first in the Centre First Chance Meet. She also placed second overall in the high jump with a 1.5-meter height and also finished sixth overall in the 60m hurdles with a time of 9.94 seconds.
