Lenoir-Rhyne's Alexis Brown Named 2023-24 South Atlantic Conference Female Athlete of the Year
ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – Lenoir-Rhyne's Alexis Brown was named the 2023-24 South Atlantic Conference Female Athlete of the Year, the Conference announced today. The Female and Female Athlete of the Year awards are selected by a vote of the league's athletic directors.
Brown, a sophomore from Mableton, Ga., was a two-time National Champion in both the Indoor and Outdoor Track and Field National Championships. She was a five-time All-American and the 2024 USTFCCCA Regional Athlete of the Year in both Indoor and Outdoor Track and Field. Brown earned the National Athlete of the Week and won three individual National Championships to go along with a National Championship as a member of 4x100m relay.
During Indoor National Championships, Brown brought home the individual title in the 60m and 200m dash and added a 100m national championships during Outdoor Championships in addition to the relay title.
Brown set an NCAA Division II record during the 100m prelims at the conference meet in the 100m dash with a time of 11.04 seconds. She would parlay her success to be selected to compete for the Team USA Olympic Trails in Eugene, Oregon. Brown would reach the semifinals of the trials in her quest to compete in the Olympics.
Brown becomes Lenoir-Rhyne's third female to win the SAC Athlete of the Year, joining Traci Hyman in 1999-00 and Kate Griewisch in 2011-12.
