Queens' Fleyer Named South Atlantic Conference AstroTurf Women's Tennis Player of the Week
Yana Fleyer of Queens University of Charlotte has been named the South Atlantic Conference AstroTurf Women’s Tennis Player of the Week for matches played Feb. 19-25, the League announced today.
ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – Yana Fleyer of Queens University of Charlotte has been named the South Atlantic Conference AstroTurf Women's Tennis Player of the Week for matches played Feb. 19-25, the League announced today.
Fleyer, a freshman from Minsk, Belarus, led the regionally ranked No. 10 Royals to a 3-0 record last week with wins over Division I Gardner-Webb (5-2), USC Aiken (9-0) and Bluefield State (8-0). In her match against Gardner-Webb, Fleyer won at No. 2 singles, 6-2, 6-0, and along with doubles partner Sasha Davidzenka, was victorious at No. 1 doubles, 6-2. She then won 6-0, 6-3 at No. 2 singles against USC Aiken and 8-6 at No. 1 doubles, 8-6. Fleyer closed out her week with a 6-1, 6-1 win at No. 2 singles versus Bluefield State and an 8-0 win at No. 1 doubles.
This is Fleyer's first Player of the Week honor this year.
