Queens Upsets Wingate to Capture 2018 SAC Women's Tennis Championship

The third-seeded Queens University of Charlotte women’s tennis team upset top-seeded Wingate, 5-3, Saturday to win the 2018 South Atlantic Conference Women’s Tournament at the Cayce Tennis & Fitness Center. With the victory, the Royals earn an automatic berth into the NCAA national tournament.

Wingate’s Michela Verpelli was voted the 2018 South Atlantic Conference Women’s Tennis Player of the Year, while Yana Fleyer of Queens was voted the Conference’s Freshman of the Year.  In addition, Wingate head Michael Cabana was named the Coach of the Year, the SAC office announced today.
