CHARLOTTE, N.C. (TheSAC.com)- Lenoir-Rhyne's Neve Duston scored the game winning overtime goal in the 96th minute of play, leading the Bears to their defeat over the Queens Royals with a final score of 2-1 this Sunday afternoon (Apr. 11). The Bears scored their first goal in the 76th minute of play to tie the game and go on to win the 2021 SAC Women's Soccer Spring Tournament Championship.
The Bears were very active on the offensive side of things taking a total of four shots on goal compared to Queens' one. Lenoir-Rhyne's defense played an active part in keeping the ball away from the Bears goal posts throughout the entire match.
Queens Royals Alyssa Edwards Scored in the 46th minute of play to put them ahead of the Bears to start, teammate Erica Turner and goalie for the Royals registered two saves on the day.
Duston was named the tournament's most valuable player and there was an 11-member All-Tournament Team.
