The South Atlantic Conference Announces AstroTurf Women's Soccer Players of the Week
ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – The South Atlantic Conference announced its AstroTurf Women's Soccer Players of the Week for matches played between Sept. 30 and Oct. 6. Anderson forward Erin Cepeda was named the offensive player of the week, while Lincoln Memorial goalkeeper Emanuely Costa was named defensive player of the week.
Cepeda, a sophomore from Fort Mill, S.C., led the Trojans to a 1-1 record last week. She scored the first three goals of her collegiate career, as well as recording her first career hat trick in Anderson's 4-0 win over Coker. Cepeda scored the first and second goals of the match, as well as the final goal. This is Cepeda's first offensive player of the week honor of the season.
Costa, a junior from Belo Horizonte, Brazil, led the Railsplitters to a 1-0 victory over nationally ranked No. 11 Lenoir-Rhyne. She shut out the Bears, making six saves in 90 minutes of action. This is the first defensive player of the week accolade for Costa this season.
