The South Atlantic Conference Announces Women's Soccer Elite 18 Honoree
ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – Kaitlyn Brunworth from Wingate University was named the 2016 South Atlantic Conference Elite 18 honoree, the League announced today. This is a new award for the SAC and honors the student-athlete with the top cumulative grade-point average based on a minimum of 48 credit hours who is competing at the final site of each of the Conference's 18 team championship sports
Brunworth, a senior Littleton, Colo., carries a 4.0 GPA as a biology major. On the pitch, Brunworth has scored a pair of goals during the 2016 season and handed out three assists. Her biggest goal of the year came during the Bulldogs' semifinal match vs. top-seed Lenoir-Rhyne as she found the back of the net in the 44th minute to lift the No. 5 seed Bulldogs to a 1-0 win over the Bears.
Brunworth is a four-time all-conference selection, earning first team All-SAC accolades in each of the last three seasons. The 2014 SAC Scholar-Athlete was an NSCAA second team All-American in 2015, while also earning third team Academic All-America recognition during her junior season.
