Four WBB Teams Regionally Ranked
ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) -- In the second edition of the NCAA's region rankings, the South Atlantic Conference had four women's basketball programs ranked in the top 10.
Coker, who clinched their first-ever SAC Regular Season title on Saturday, slots in at No. 2 in the region thanks to a 24-2 overall record.
Carson-Newman slots in at No. 6 in the region, owners of a 20-6 mark. The Eagles are followed by Anderson at No. 8 (17-9) and Wingate at No. 9 (17-9).
The selection committee uses these rankings as a guideline to make up the NCAA Tournament field. The top eight teams in the region make the NCAA Tournament with three automatic bids going to the winners of the conference tournaments from the South Atlantic Conference, Conference Carolinas and the Peach Belt Conference. The other five spots will consist of at-large bids.
