Lady Railsplitters Fall To The Catawba Indians
Harrogate, TN – The Lincoln Memorial Lady Railsplitters fall to the Catawba Indians Saturday afternoon 48-56.
Lincoln Memorial took control of the first quarter, only allowing Catawba to score 6 points. Kamil Collier posted 9 rebounds in the first, out rebounding Catawba's whole team by 2 rebounds. Lincoln Memorial had the lead for the entire first quarter. The Indians were able to catch up and gain the lead in the second because of their game high 18 points in the second quarter compared to LMU's 8. The score going into halftime was 24-22 with Catawba having the slight lead.
In the third, Lincoln Memorial outscored the Indians 18-16, while also out rebounding them 8-6. The fourth quarter was where the Indians took the lead and never looked back, outscoring the Lady Railsplitters 16-8, which gave Catawba the win 56-48.
Alexa Smiddy led the game in points with 12 points, while also posting 4 rebounds and 3 assists. Matty Tanner recorded 11 points with 2 rebounds and 2 assists. Kamil Collier nearly finished with a double-double, registering 8 points and 12 rebounds. Lexi Patty recorded 6 points, 8 rebounds, 3 assists, and 2 steals. Caroline Sikkink posted 5 rebounds and assists. Asia Barr and Dominique Rodriguez rounded out the scoring with 3 points each.
As a team, Lincoln Memorial went 36.2% from the field and 26.1% from behind the arch. The Lady Railsplitters went 8-11 from the free-throw line and scored 22 points from the paint and 17 points from Catawba turnovers. LMU out rebounded the Indians 37-30.
With the loss, the Lady Railsplitters move to 7-9 overall and 6-7 in conference play.
They will host their next game on January 22nd against Emory & Henry, with tip-off at 5:30 pm in Tex Turner Arena.
