UVA Wise's Burnside Earns SAC WePlayed Sports Women's Basketball Player of the Week Accolades

ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – UVA Wise forward Sable Burnside has been named the South Atlantic Conference WePlayed Sports Women's Basketball Player of the Week for games played during week nine of the 2024-25 season, the Conference announced today.

Burnside, a senior from Morristown, Tenn., dropped a career-high 34 points in a 78-66 win at Limestone on Jan. 8. In that game, Burnside shot 12 of 20 from the field and hit 7-of-8 from the free throw line while adding a trio of 3-pointers. She would add 12 rebounds in the win along with four assists and two steals. On Saturday, Wise topped Lenoir-Rhyne 84-79 and Burnside had 16 points on 7-of-11 shooting. For the week, she averaged 25 points per game, 8.0 rebounds and 2.5 assists while shooting 61.3 percent from the field and 88.9 percent from the free throw line.
