Hickory, N.C. – The Lenoir-Rhyne Softball Team (45-10), ranked No. 11 in the nation, came up just short in the NCAA Division II Southeast Regional Championship against Young Harris (34-19) on Saturday afternoon at Bears Field. The Bears – facing elimination - beat the Mountain Lions by a 6-3 score in the first game before falling in the nightcap, 9-3.

STATS OF THE GAME (Game One):
• The Bears rallied from a 3-1 deficit in the bottom of the seventh inning capped off by a walk-off, three-run home run from freshman first baseman Kylee Leonhardt (Lincolnton, N.C.).
• Lenoir-Rhyne junior Emily Kenley (Charlotte, N.C.) improved to 24-4 on the year after throwing the complete game victory.
• Haylie Shope (Murphy, N.C.) hit a solo home run for the Mountain Lions while Dharma Rosbrugh (Waxhaw, N.C.) fell to 21-11 after taking the loss for Young Harris.
STATS OF THE GAME (Game Two):
• Winning four games over two days proved to be a bit too much for Lenoir-Rhyne.
• Young Harris rallied from a 2-0 deficit to take the win. Shope hit the game-winning double in the fourth inning while Jill Torres (Woodstock, Ga.) added a three-run home run for the Mountain Lions. Rosbrugh (22-11) was credited with the win.
• Leonhardt hit another home run and finished with two runs batted in for the Bears. Kenley (24-5) suffered the loss.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE:
• Lenoir-Rhyne was hosting the regionals for the first time since the 2013 season.
• LR was the second seed in the NCAA Division II Southeast Regional Tournament while Young Harris was seeded seventh.
• Lenoir-Rhyne finished with year with a 25-2 record at home.

Young Harris will travel to North Georgia for a best-of-three series as part of the NCAA Division II Southeast Super Regional Tournament next weekend in Dahlonega, Ga.
