Four South Atlantic Conference Schools Ranked in NCAA Southeast Region Softball Poll
The Lenoir-Rhyne, Coker, Queens and Carson-Newman softball teams earned spots in the latest NCAA Southeast Region Softball poll, which was released by the NCAA on Wednesday (May 2).
ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – The Lenoir-Rhyne, Coker, Queens and Carson-Newman softball teams earned spots in the latest NCAA Southeast Region Softball poll, which was released by the NCAA on Wednesday (May 2). The Bears earned the No. 2 spot, followed by the Cobras at No. 4, the Royals at No. 5 and the Eagles in the No. 6 spot.
Lenoir-Rhyne finished the regular season ranked No. 11 in the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) national ranking with a record of 42-8.
Coker completed the regular season with a record of 35-16, and the Cobras were the runner-up in the SAC Softball Championship.
Queens closed out the regular season with a record of 35-15, and Carson-Newman ended the regular season with a record of 32-19.
The Eagles earned the South Atlantic Conference's automatic bid to the NCAA Southeast Regional by winning the SAC Softball Championship on Saturday (April 28).
The rankings are the official poll utilized by the NCAA in the championship selection process and will continue to be released each week by the NCAA Division II Softball Committee up to the NCAA Championship selections, which will take place on Monday, May 7 at 10 a.m.
