The South Atlantic Conference Announces Seeds for 2018 Softball Championship
Lenoir-Rhyne is the 2018 South Atlantic Conference Regular Season Champion as the Bears finished the SAC portion of their schedule with 19-1 record.
ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – Lenoir-Rhyne is the 2018 South Atlantic Conference Regular Season Champion as the Bears finished the SAC portion of their schedule with 19-1 record. The Bears will be the No. 1 seed in next week's South Atlantic Conference Softball Championship, which will be hosted by Anderson University on Friday, April 27 through Saturday, April 28.
The Cobras from Coker will be the No. 2 seed with a record of 12-8 in conference, while Newberry, Wingate and Anderson all finished the season with 11-9 records in SAC play. The Wolves will be the No. 3 seed by virtue of their 4-0 record versus the other two teams. Wingate earns the No. 4 seed thanks to a 2-0 head-to-head record against Anderson, making the Trojans the No. 5 seed.
Queens takes the No. 6 seed with an even 10-10 record. Rounding out the eight teams advancing to the championship are Catawba and Carson-Newman with identical 8-12 records. Catawba earns the No. 7 seed over Carson-Newman, even though the two teams are 1-1 head-to-head, but the Indians were also 1-1 against top-seed Lenoir-Rhyne, while Carson-Newman was 0-2.
The single elimination 2018 SAC Softball Championship will be played at the Anderson University Softball Complex in Anderson, S.C. Games begin on Friday (April 27) at 10 a.m. Below is the Championship schedule.
