ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – Erin Boone of Lenoir-Rhyne was tabbed the AstroTurf South Atlantic Conference Softball Player of the Week, while Brandi Parks of Lenoir-Rhyne was selected as the Astroturf South Atlantic Conference Softball Pitcher of the Week for games played Feb. 13-Feb. 19, the League announced today.
Boone, a sophomore from Creedmoor, North Carolina, spearheaded the Bears' undefeated 6-0 record last week. Across six games she recorded 12 hits, 10 runs, four doubles, a triple, five RBI, and a stolen base. In the Converse double-header, where she did most of her work, Boone posted four of her runs, eight hits, a double, and one RBI. In the four following games of the tournament she was pitched around six times. Boone had an overall batting average of .632 coupled with an on base percentage of .720, last week. She has amassed a .563 batting average on the season which puts her at the No. 1 spot in the League. The honor marks her first Player of the Week selection this season.
Parks, a sophomore from Roaring River, North Carolina, pitched three complete games last week finishing with a 3-0 record in games against Converse, Pfeiffer, and Mount Olive. Throughout the three games she only allowed one unearned run against her and over the course of 21.0 innings she totaled only 9 hits and struck out 22 batters. On February 15th, she didn't allow a single hit and struck out 11 batters in the Bears' 12-0 shutout of Converse. The honor marks her first Player of the Week selection this season.
