Wingate’s Laskey, Lenoir-Rhyne’s Hoskins Claim SAC Softball Weekly Awards
Wingate catcher Taylor Laskey has been named the SAC Softball Player of the Week, while Lenoir-Rhyne's Maryann Hoskins has been voted as the league's Pitcher of the Week, it was announced on Tuesday.
ROCK HILL, S.C. – Wingate catcher Taylor Laskey has been named the SAC Softball Player of the Week, while Lenoir-Rhyne's Maryann Hoskins has been voted as the league's Pitcher of the Week, it was announced on Tuesday.

Laskey led Wingate to a 4-0 week by hitting .600 with a 1.333 slugging percentage. She posted nine hits in 15 at-bats, finishing with five extra-base hits and seven RBI.
On Tuesday in a double-header sweep of USC Aiken, Laskey went a combined 5-of-8 at the plate, including two home runs in game one and another in game two. She also tied game two in the bottom of the eighth with an RBI double, and later scored the game-winning run.
Laskey had four more hits – including a double – in WU's Saturday sweep of Tusculum. She is hitting .338 with a .435 on-base percentage this season.
SAC Softball Pitcher of the Week | Maryann Hoskins, Lenoir-Rhyne
Hoskins went 3-0 on the mound for Lenoir-Rhyne, giving up just a single earned run in 14.2 innings while striking out 15.
She opened the week with a complete-game, six-strikeout shutout on Wednesday against Francis Marion. Then on Saturday, the sophomore was perfect in 2.2 innings of relief against Anderson in game one of a double-header, preserving a 6-5 L-R victory.
Hoskins went on to win game two against Anderson as well, allowing just one run and five hits in five innings. She is tied for second in the SAC with 10 wins and is fourth in ERA at 0.92.
