Queens Wins The 2017 South Atlantic Conference Men’s Cross Country Championship
Newton, N.C. – The Queens University of Charlotte Men's Cross Country Team, ranked No. 10 in NCAA Division II, won the 2017 South Atlantic Conference Championship Saturday morning at Southside Park.
The Royals won their second title in three seasons in dominant fashion, placing seven runners in the top twelve and outdistanced the runner-up Wingate by an 88-23 score. Queens also won the championship in 2015.
In addition, Queens' Tom Baines was named the 2017 SAC Men's Cross Country Runner Of The Year after winning the race with a time of 24:28 over the 8K course. The Royals' Nick Kipkemei – who placed fourth overall (24:43) – was named the league's freshman of the year.
The 2017 NCAA Division II Men's Cross Country Southeast Regional Championship will take place on Saturday, November 4, in Wingate, N.C., on the campus of Wingate University.
