Hammond, Griewisch Earn Runner of the Week Honors

ROCK HILL, S.C. - SAC cross country
student-athletes Steve Hammond from Wingate and Kate Griewisch from
Lenoir-Rhyne have been selected as the league's Runners of the
Week, it was announced on Tuesday.

Hammond paced his field Saturday, capturing the Bulldog
Stampede 8K event with a time of 26:09. The 2010 SAC Freshman of
the Year was nine seconds ahead of the second-place finisher.
Thanks to the efforts of Hammond and his teammates, Wingate won the
event's team title with 28 points.
This is Hammond's second-straight Runner of the Week
selection.
Meanwhile, Griewisch was the top NCAA Division II runner at
the Will Wilson Citadel Invitational this past Saturday morning at
James Island County Park in Charleston, S.C. Griewisch ran the 5K
course in 18:25 and finished second overall out of 92 runners.
Griewisch, a two-time All-American (2009 and 2010), also led
Lenoir-Rhyne to a first-place finish out of six schools in the
Division II race.
This is her second Runner of the Week win in 2011, and 10th in
her career.
