Powell, Bishoff Named SAC Cross Country Runners of the Week

ROCK HILL, S.C. - Mars Hill's Kit Powell and Anderson's Whitney Bishoff have been named the SAC Cross Country Runners of the Week, the league office announced on Tuesday.

Powell, a junior from Antigo, Wisc., was the top Division II performer at the Men's USC Upstate Eye Opener with a time of 27:00, and finished 23rd overall in the 8K event. His strong showing helped Mars Hill finish eighth as a team.

Bishoff, the 2010 Food Lion SAC Championship individual winner and a 2011 preseason All-Conference selection, finished fourth overall in the Women's USC Upstate Eye Opener with a time of 18:06. The Winer, Ga., native's time was the best among DII runners, and was 33 seconds faster than her time at last year's Eye Opener.
