Wingate’s Watson, Hines Named Cross Country Runners Of The Week
ROCK HILL, S.C. -- Wingate's Jayce Watson and Amber Hines swept the South Atlantic Conference Runners of the Week awards announced today. This week's award is Watson's fifth runner of the week honor this season, while it is Hines first runner of the week honor of 2008.
Wingate senior Jayce Watson (Millersport, Ohio) led the Bulldogs at the Anderson (S.C.) Invitational Saturday. Watson, the 2007 SAC Runner of the Year and 2005 SAC Freshman Runner of the Year, ran a 26:05 in the 8K race, placing second to Mitch Cooper of St. Andrews Presbyterian (25:55). Seven teams and 49 individuals participated in the event.

The Wingate men placed second on the team charts. Clayton State won the team title with 45 points; the Bulldogs were next with 58 markers.
Hines (Little Mountain, S.C.) led the Bulldogs at the Anderson (S.C.) Invitational Saturday. The Wingate senior, the 2006 SAC Runner of the Year, ran a 20:09 in the 5K event, charting at the number eight position in the race. Eleven teams and 72 individuals participated in the event.
The Wingate women placed second on the team charts. Augusta State won the team title with 48 points; the Bulldogs were next with 87 points.
The SAC Runner of the Week is determined by a vote of the sports information directors of the league.
