Tusculum’s Holzapfel, Carson-Newman’s Morris Named Cross Country Runners Of The Week
ROCK HILL, S.C. -- The "Volunteer State" of Tennessee swept the South Atlantic Conference Runner of the Week Awards for week six, as Tusculum's Simon Holzapfel and Carson' Newman's Aubrey Morris received the award for their stellar performances this past weekend.
Tusculum's Holzapfel (Nuremberg, Germany) finished first at the 2008 Lenoir-Rhyne Cross Country Invitational in Hickory, N.C. on Friday afternoon. The sophomore established a new school record time of 26:20.05 on the 8K course. It was Holzapfel's third individual title win this season and fifth of his young career.
This is the first time that Holzapfel has received the honor of Male SAC Runner of the Week.

Carson-Newman senior Aubrey Morris (Chattanooga, Tenn.) won for the fifth time this season, running the course in 18:30 to win the Belmont Abbey Invitational by twenty seconds. Morris helped the Lady Eagles finish second overall out of seven teams. Morris beat runners from St. Andrews, Converse, Belmont-Abbey, Pfeiffer, and Barton.
Morris has been named the Female SAC Runner of the Week four times thus far in 2008, with this being the second consecutive week in which she has received the honor. This is the second time this year in which Morris has been named SAC Runner of the Week in back-to-back weeks.
The SAC Runner of the Week is determined by a vote of the sports information directors of the league.
