Wingate’s Watson, Carson-Newman’s Morris Named Cross Country Runners Of The Week
ROCK HILL, S.C. - For the second week in a row, Wingate University's Jayce Watson and Carson-Newman's Aubrey Morris were named the male and female South Atlantic Conference Runners of the Week announced today.
Wingate University senior Jayce Watson (Millersport, Ohio) led the Bulldogs to a third-place finish out of 22 NCAA Division II teams in the 2008 Eye Opener Invitational at the Roger Milliken Center. Watson won the NCAA Division II race with a time of 26:01, which was good enough for third-place overall.

The Carson-Newman senior runner Aubrey Morris (Chattanooga, Tenn.) won the NCAA Division II race and was 12th overall with her time of 18.55 in the 5K event at the 2008 Eye Opener Invitational in Spartanburg, S.C. Morris helped the Eagles to a fourth- place team finish in the meet. The win was Morris' second consecutive first-place finish and the ninth of her career.
The SAC Runners of the Week are determined by a vote of the sports information directors of the league.
