Wingate’s Watson, Carson-Newman’s Morris Named Runners Of The Week
ROCK HILL, S.C. - In the first week of competition, Wingate University's Jayce Watson and Carson-Newman's Aubrey Morris were named the male and female South Atlantic Conference Runners of the Week announced today.
Wingate University senior Jayce Watson (Millersport, Ohio) finished 10th overall at the Wake Forest relays last Friday afternoon. Watson, the 2007 SAC Runner of the Year and SAC Scholar Athlete, finished with a time of 23:08. The meet featured runners from Wake Forest, High Point, Elon and Duke, all NCAA Division I schools.

The Carson-Newman women's cross country team captured the title at the Tusculum Invitational, as the Lady Eagles were led by senior runner Aubrey Morris (Chattanooga, Tenn.) Morris won the Tusculum Invitational, held on Saturday morning at the Greene Valley Development Center, with her time of 19:07 which was 26 seconds faster than the second-place finisher, as she beat out runners from Tusculum, Milligan, and UVA-Wise. The win was the first for Morris since the SAC meet in 2007, where she took SAC Runner of the Year honors. The Carson-Newman women's cross country team captured the title at the Tusculum Invitational.
The SAC Runners of the Week are selected by a vote of the league's sports information directors.
