Lincoln Memorial Names Jeremy Donahue Cross Country Coach
HARROGATE, TN - Former Lincoln Memorial University men's cross country standout Jeremy Donahue (Sevierville, TN) has accepted the position of Head Cross Country Coach at his alma mater.
A four-year letter winner and two-time All-South Atlantic Conference Second Team selection for the Railsplitters, Donahue will take over the helm for Brandon Gibbs who stepped down from the position last week to pursue a career change. "I enjoyed my time here as a student-athlete," says Donahue. "I now appreciate the opportunity to coach the LMU men's and women's cross country programs."
This fall Donahue and the Railsplitters finished 8th in the NCAA Southeast Regional meet held in Wingate, North Carolina. In 2006, the Lincoln Memorial University men's cross country program finished 9th at the NCAA Southeast Regional which was also held in Wingate.
Donahue will take over a men's program that loses three members to graduation and a women's squad that loses five of eight participants to graduation honors. "Coach Gibbs has done a fine job and I now look forward to the challenge of building a conference, region and national championship contender."
Although he has already begun to acclimate himself to the responsibilities that come with the position, Donahue will officially begin his reign as the University's new cross country coach in early January.
