Wingate’s Watson, Carson-Newman’s Morris Named Runners Of The Week
ROCK HILL, S.C. - Aubrey Morris of Carson-Newman College and Wingate University's Jayce Watson have been named the South Atlantic Conference Cross Country Runners of the Week announced league officials Monday.
Morris, a junior from Chattanooga, Tenn., finished fifth at the Eye Opener Invitational with a time of 18:57 on the 5,000-meter course. She helped lead Carson-Newman to a fifth place finish.
Watson, a 5-8, 135-pound junior from Millersport, Ohio, earns Runner of the Week honors for a second straight week. Watson broke his 8K school record with a time of 25:44 as he finished second in the NCAA Division II portion of the Eye Opener Invitational in Spartanburg, S.C. The Bulldogs placed sixth out of 17 NCAA II teams in a very strong field.
