Mars Hill’s Stoehr, Wingate’s Hines named SAC Runners of the Week
ROCK HILL, S.C. - Mars Hill College's Jon Stoehr was named the SAC Men's Runner of the Week and Amber Hines of Wingate University was selected as the SAC Women's Runner of the Week, conference officials announced today. This is the second consecutive week this duo has garnered the award.
Stoehr, a 6-0, 150-pound senior from Antigo, WI (Antigo HS) won the Eye Opener Invitational. He ran the 8K course in a time of 26:14. Jon finished first in the event that included both Division I and junior college runners as well as members of the Division II ranks. There were a total of 207 runners in the race in a field of 22 teams. His nearest Division II competitor was 29 seconds behind. He led his team to their third straight Eye Opener title and second consecutive team win this season.
Hines a 5-3, sophomore from Little Mountain, SC (Chapin HS) had her second big week in a row for the Bulldogs. She placed sixth in the Eye Opener Invitational with a time of 19:44. Thanks to the efforts of Hines and her teammates, the Bulldogs placed tied for sixth in the 24-team field.
The SAC Runners of the Week are selected by a vote of the league's sports information directors.
