Presbyterian’s Elliott, Carson-Newman’s Morris named Runners of the Week
ROCK HILL, S.C. - Presbyterian College's Matthew Elliott was named the SAC Men's Runner of the Week and Carson-Newman College's Aubrey Morris was named the SAC Women's Runners of the Week, conference officials announced today. This is the first time this season either runner has won the award.
Elliott, a 6-1, 155-pound senior from Green Sea, SC (Green Sea Floyds HS) took runner-up honors with his time of 26:39.97 in the 8K event, leading the host Blue Hose to a second-place finish in their own invitational. Elliott set a personal best time in the event.
Morris, a sophomore from Chattanooga, TN (Chattanooga Christian HS) placed first in the Belmont-Abbey Invitational with a time of 19:16 in the 5K race as the Carson-Newman Eagles finished second as a team. This was her second straight first place finish as she won the University of Tennessee's Volunteer Invitational a week ago with a time of 19:51.
The SAC Runners of the Week are selected by a vote of the league's sports information directors.
