The SAC Announces WePlayed Sports Men's Outdoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week
ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – The South Atlantic Conference announced its WePlayed Sports Men's Outdoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week for meets contested during the third week of competition. Tusculum's Isaiah Olson earned the track honor while Mars Hill's Jesse Shelton earned the field honor.
Olson, a junior sprinter from Greeneville, Tenn., set a school record and won the 100 meters (10.27 seconds), won the 200 meters in a career-best 20.93 seconds, and was part of the winning 4x100 relay with a season-best time of 40.60 seconds at the Electric City Invitational. Tusculum finished second in the 21-team meet.
Shelton, a sophomore thrower from Mars Hill, N.C., finished in second place at the Tennessee Invite in the Shot Put. Shelton's throw of 17.71m ranks No. 6 in all of NCAA Division II. He also set a school record in the discuss with a toss of 53.82m which ranks 11th in the nation.
