Carson-Newman's Moore Named South Atlantic Conference Men's Outdoor Track and Field Athlete of the Year
ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – Carson-Newman's Devon Moore has been named the 2019 South Atlantic Conference Men's Outdoor Track and Field Athlete of the Year, the Conference office announced on Monday (June 3).
Moore, a sophomore from Baxley, Ga., had an outstanding outdoor season. He set a new Carson-Newman record time for the 100-meter dash when he posted a 10.12 at the Tennessee Relays. The time also put Moore in the NCAA record books, as the No. 12 100-meter dash all-time. He earned a pair of third place finishes at the NCAA Division II National Championship, taking home the bronze in both the 100 and 200-meter dashes.
In addition to his success at the national championship, Moore earned All-American status in both the 100 and 200-meter dashes. He was a USTFCCCA All-Region pick and was named All-SAC in both events as well. He was a three-time SAC Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week honoree and was also selected as the USTFCCCA National Track Athlete of the Week on April 17.
The SAC Men's Outdoor Track and Field Athlete of the Year award is determined following the completion of the NCAA Division II Outdoor National Championship and is voted on by the league's head coaches.
