Wingate's Kyle Named South Atlantic Conference Men's Indoor Track and Field Athlete of the Year
ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – Wingate's Isaiah Kyle has been named the 2019 South Atlantic Conference Men's Indoor Track and Field Athlete of the Year, the Conference office announced on Monday (March 18).
Kyle, a senior from Morristown, Tenn., had an outstanding 2019 indoor season winning numerous titles, including the 2019 NCAA Division II National Championship. Kyle captured the first indoor track and field national championship in Wingate history and became just the second SAC student-athlete to win an indoor national championship when he jumped 2.18 meters to win the men's high jump at the 2019 NCAA Division II National Championship.
In addition to his national championship, Kyle was the 2019 SAC men's high jump champion and was a 2019 USTFCCCA All-Region selection. He earned his seventh All-America honor this season in the high jump and he posted the top high jump mark in the nation, clearing 2.20 meters at the JDL Fast Track Early Bird Duals in December. He also finished seventh at the SAC championships in the heptathlon and was tenth in the triple jump.
The SAC Men's Indoor Track and Field Athlete of the Year award is determined following the completion of the NCAA Division II Indoor National Championship and is voted on by the league's head coaches.
