Plougmand Named Regional Player of the Year; 12 from SAC Named All-Region
ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – For the second straight year, the South Atlantic Conference boasts the D2CCA Southeast Region Player of the Year. Mars Hill's Peter Plougmand joins LMU's Daniel Burko, who earned the honor in 2023, as back-to-back top player in the region honors.
Plougmand, a senior from Odense, Denmark, led the nation in goals scored with 25 while also leading Division II in points with 56. He accounted for over half of all his team's goals on the season as the Lions returned to the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2012. The SAC Player of the Year registered three hat tricks on the year and won SAC Offensive Player of the Week honors four times.
The SAC also led the region in All-Region selections with 12. Conference Carolinas had nine while the Peach Belt had five.
Limestone had the most All-Region selections with six while Coker tied Clayton St. for the second-most with three.
The First Team All-Region was made up of Plougmand along with Coker's Matty Tricker and four Satins. Mark Radoki, Hugo Vien, Stefan Roeb and Nikolaj Bertlesen were all First Team selections.
The second team was made up of Claudel N'goubou and Falk Jorch from Limestone along with the SAC Freshman of the Year in Coker's Oskar Kaufmann. Also, Mars Hill's Sam Bayly, Lenoir-Rhyne's Harri Rowe and Coker's Jorhan Chopin.
The First Team selections are now eligible for the All-America ballot. The D2CCA All-America team will be announced on Dec. 10.
