Bochaton and Esnault Named SAC WePlayed Sports Golfers of the Week
ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – Wingate's Amely Bochaton was named the South Atlantic Conference WePlayed Sports Women's Golfer of the Week and Catawba's Paul Esnault was named the South Atlantic Conference Men's Golfers of the Week for events played during the first two weeks of the 2024-25 season, the Conference office announced today.
Bochaton, a freshman from Evian Les Bains, France, had an incredible first two weeks of her collegiate career. Sh finished second in her first-ever tournament which included a program record 5-under par 67 in the final round, helping Wingate shatter the school's 18 and 54-hole scoring records as Wingate overcame a 7-shot deficit against #5 Anderson with the final round 280 to win by five shots. Bochaton followed by tying her own school record in the opening round this week in Tennessee, then carding a 69 in round two to set the school's 36-hole scoring record. She would go on to win the tournament by four shots, leading the Bulldogs to a nine-shot victory over #5 Anderson.
Esnault, a sophomore from Caen, France, had a strong start to his 2024-25 campaign. In his only action of the first two weeks, Esnault carded a 208 to win the Malone-Glenmoor Fall Invitational on Sept. 9-10. He fired rounds of 70-67-71 and posted a stroke average of 69.33 while leading his team to a runner-up finish in the tournament.
