Cobras and Bulldogs Move Up Leaderboard in Day Two of NCAA Championships
WINTER GARDEN, FLA. -- The Wingate men's golf team was the biggest mover of the day in the second round of the NCAA Championships at the Orange County Golf Center on Wednesday afternoon. The Bulldogs jumped nine places into a tie for seventh after firing a -5 on the second day. They are one spot behind Coker who moved up two spots with an even-par team score for day two.
Wingate's 279 was the second-best round of the day, trailing only Oklahoma Christian's 275 as they sit in first place with a nine-shot lead. The Bulldogs had no shortage of standouts but were led by Jordan Hyland's 68 and Lewis Beeden's 69. Hyland fired seven birdies on the afternoon while Beeden added four more. Sean Addie carded a 70 and Colin Dutton tallied a 72.
Coker finished with a 284 as a squad today, led by a 69 from Caleb Tidd. Tidd was consistent, paring 13 holes. He added a eagle on 14. Jonathan Hallinger shot a 72 and sits in a tie for 12th place overall. Aaron Teece carded a 70 on the afternoon, including a -4 on the back nine.
The top eight teams advance after tomorrow's rounds so both teams will look to cement their spot with a top-8 finish. Henderson St. sits in ninth place, just three shots behind Wingate. The Bulldogs tee off at 11:10 while the Cobras start at 12:16 tomorrow.
