CHARLOTTE, N.C. - The top seeded Queens University of Charlotte Royals defeated the No. 4 seed Catawba Indians 96-93 on Sunday (March 17) evening in the semifinals of the NCAA Division II Southeast Regional. With the win the Royals advance to their second straight Southeast Region championship game, where they will face the No. 2 seed Jaguars of Augusta on Tuesday (March 19) at 7 p.m.
Four Royals scored in double figures on Sunday, with Daniel Carr leading the way with 33 points and five rebounds. Shaun Willett added 19 points and eight rebounds, while Lewis Diankulu and Van Turner Jr. chipped in 11 points each.
Leading the Catawba Indians were Malik Constantine and Jameel Taylor with 24 and 23 points, respectively along with seven rebounds apiece. Devin Cooper added 15 points, while Jeremy McLaughin scored 12 points and Terrence Whitfield had 10 points.
