
ANDERSON, S.C. --- Anderson University defeated Tusculum University 4-0 in South Atlantic Conference women's tennis Thursday afternoon.
The 47th-ranked Trojans (12-3, 2-2 SAC) captured the doubles point and won three singles matches in straight sets to pick up the win over the Pioneers (0-4, 0-1 SAC).
In doubles, Valentina Borda and Alexandria Braithwaite defeated Katie Bradley and Valeria Diaz 6-3 at flight two, and Mara Opre teamed with Elena Ronconi for a 6-4 win over Samira Butt and Thilda Danielsson at flight three.
The Trojans went up 2-0 as Opre defeated Butt 6-2, 6-0 at flight five and took a 3-0 lead as Ensley Collins beat Bradley 6-1, 6-0 at flight six. Anderson clinched the win at flight four as Braithwaite picked up a 6-3, 6-1 win over Diaz. Danielsson won the first set 6-4 of her match with Ronconi at flight three before the Trojans earned the clinching point.
Tusculum will play its home opener on Saturday, March 8 against 35th-ranked Newberry. The Wolves improved to 5-3 overall and 2-1 in SAC play with a 4-0 win over Mars Hill on Thursday.
