20th Ranked Trojans Use Balanced Attack to Put Away Bears; 69-63

HICKORY, N.C. – No. 20 Anderson University women's basketball team used a balanced attack to win its 19th straight game and put away the Bears from Lenoir-Rhyne, 69-63, on Saturday afternoon at Shuford Memorial Gymnasium

With the victory, the Anderson moves to 21-2 overall and 15-0 in SAC play while the Bears fall to 11-11 overall and 6-8 in conference action.

KEY STATS

  • The Trojans shot 43.9% from the field and 73.7% from the free throw line making six more foul shots than the Bears took.
  • Anderson won the rebound advantage, 39-36.
  • The Black and Gold dished out 19 assists on the game.
  • Junior Alexy Mollenhauer was limited to 28 minutes of action, due to foul trouble.

 

NOTES

 

  • Junior Madison Baggett scored a game-high 16 points while grabbing eight rebounds and dishing out eight assists.
  • Mollenhauer chipped in 13 points while ripping down 10 rebounds to record her 15th double-double of the season. 
     
  • Seniors Ace Easter and Erika Martin each netted nine points while sophomore Taylor Hair scored eight points for the Black and Gold.
  • Lenoir-Rhyne placed three players in double digit scoring with Madeline Hardy, Karlie Bearden and Kendall Toineeta each scoring 12 points.

  • The Trojans have eclipsed the 18 game win-streak by the 2014-15 team. The 19 straight wins is the longest in Anderson history, since joining the SAC in 2010.

UP NEXT

Anderson returns to Abney Athletic Center to begin a three-game home stand when it welcomes SAC foe Carson-Newman. Tip-off is scheduled for 6 pm.
