Trojans Lose Heartbreaker to Lincoln Memorial; 1-0 (2OT)

ANDERSON, S.C. – Anderson University men's soccer fell, 1-0, to South Atlantic Conference opponent Lincoln Memorial in double overtime on Saturday afternoon at Trojan Stadium.

With the loss, the Trojans slip to 6-7-1 overall and 3-5-1 in conference action while Lincoln Memorial improves to 8-3-3 overall and 3-3-3 in SAC play.

Both teams had several chances to score in regulation but could not capitalize. The Railsplitters were able to find the back of the net in the 103rd minute to end the hard fought match.

LMU was awarded a direct kick following an Anderson foul. Danilo da Silva's kick sailed just over the outstretched hand of freshman keeper, Gal Elyashiv. On the afternoon, Elyashiv recorded seven saves which runs his season total to 47.

The Railsplitters keeper Caio Bergamo tallied eight saves on the afternoon while moving his overall record to 3-1 on the season.

Anderson outshot LMU 21-16 with eight shots coming on goal for both squads. Anderson dominated the corner kick total, 12-3.

The Trojans step outside of conference play on Wednesday when they welcome Southern Wesleyan to conclude their regular season home schedule. Kick-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
