Volleyball Opens Road Swing With Loss at LR

HICKORY, N.C. -- Lenoir-Rhyne took a three-set sweep of visiting Catawba in South Atlantic Conference volleyball action at Shuford Gym on Friday. The Bears go to 16-5 overall and 11-2 in the SAC with a 25-16, 25-21 and 25-13 win. The Catawba Indians drop to 9-10 and 6-7.

Catawba posted a dozen blocks in the loss, but could not get the offense on track, hitting just under 4%. Raytchelle Miranda recorded seven blocks for the Lady Indians with Ashley Johnson and Jordan Gore collecting five. Allison Bryant put down six kills and Dara Kane handed out 17 assists and posted a dozen digs.

Taylor Prall had a dozen kills for Lenoir-Rhyne. Braelyn Faust and Mackenzie Hulsey each had nine. The Bears served seven aces with Ashley Hawkins notching three. Rachel Bewick had 20 digs.

Catawba travels to Mars Hill for a SAC match on Saturday at 5 p.m.
