Cobras Fall Short to Wingate

Hartsville, S.C.- The Coker University women's soccer team fell short to Wingate University on Wednesday (Sep. 18) with a final of 2-0.

At the 13-minute mark Mckenna Delong scored the first goal of the game for the Bulldogs. Coker held their own for the remainder of the first half.

The Cobras were able to have a few more looks in the second half, but came up short when Wingate scored the final goal of the game at the 85-minute mark.

Freshman Sarah Swaim played an excellent defensive game with 16 saves between the pipes while Farrah Brown had one shot on goal for the Cobras. Skylar Davis, Ava Kieser and Makayla Barr all had one shot a piece.

"I'm so proud of the effort we put in tonight," said head coach Garrett Linquist. "I felt we were the most organized we've been all year and it really showed. The girls continue to show improvement every day I could not be more proud of this group."

The Cobras will be back in action for a non-conference matchup against Shaw University this Saturday (Sept. 21) with kick off time slated for 4:00 p.m.
