
EMORY, Va. – The Emmanuel (Ga.) University Men's Lacrosse Team (4-3) defeated Emory & Henry University (0-7) in a non-conference showdown inside the Food City Sports Complex Monday afternoon. The Lions tallied 10 fourth period goals to earn the win by a 20-3 final margin.

How It Happened
- The Lions jumped on top early as they scored four unanswered goals in the opening period to take the early 4-0 advantage. EU was first on the board in the second period, but the Wasps broke up the streak at the 7:45 mark of the frame. Freshman defender Noah Parrish (Manassas, Va.) found freshman attacker Collin Shell (Blountville, Tenn.), who buried a shot past the Lions goalie to get E&H on the board and reduce the deficit to 5-1. Emmanuel would add one more score to take the 6-1 lead into the halftime break.
- EU picked up where it left off to begin the third stanza, as the Lions scored four more times to push their advantage out to 10-1 heading into the final frame. The visitors from Georgia managed to increase the lead out to 15-1, but Emory & Henry struck back with 5:03 remaining when Shell recorded his second goal of the game. EU would register the next five goals, but Emory & Henry had the final say when freshman midfielder Gabe Carter (Kingsport, Tenn.) dished to freshman attacker Dakotah Hawkins (Roanoke, Va.) who found the back of the net for his ninth goal of the season to round out the scoring at 20-3.
Emory & Henry Individual Leaders
- Shell paced the Wasps with a pair of goals on a team-high 11 shots while adding a ground ball. Hawkins had a goal on three shots and collected three ground balls while freshman faceoff Jaxon Blackshear (Hedgesville, W.Va.) finished with a team-high four ground balls and fired a pair of shots.
- Freshman defender Kyle Dyott (Easton, Md.) caused a team-high six turnovers and scooped up a pair of ground balls while directing a shot at goal. Freshman defender Isaiah Ward (Fredericksburg, Va.) and Parrish each finished with a pair of caused turnovers and a pair of ground balls.
- Freshman goalie Julian Pantoja (Vinton, Va.) recorded a career-high 19 saves and had two ground balls and caused a pair of turnovers for the Wasps in net.
Emmanuel (Ga.) Individual Leaders
- Luke Hildebrandt led the way for the Lions with five goals, two assists, one ground ball and a pair of caused turnovers. Tanner Park tallied four goals and an assist while Griffin Gibson-Thomas contributed three goals and an assist in the win.
- Grady Magruder, Nick Pilon and Jett Giovani combined for 10 saves in goal for Emmanuel.
