Trojans Win Second Straight; Defeat Mars Hill 4-1

Mars Hill, S.C. – Anderson University men's soccer won its second straight South Atlantic Conference match, defeating Mars Hill, 4-1, on Saturday afternoon at Meares Stadium.  

With the win, the Trojans improve to 5-4-1 overall and 2-3-1 in conference play, while the Lions drop to 3-7-1 overall and 0-4 in SAC play.

The Trojans exploded for four goal, two in each half to pick up an important three points in the SAC standings.

Junior Harry Ward scored goals in the 18th minute, assisted by Martin Carpena and in the 26th minute of play, assisted by Ryan Davies putting the Trojans ahead 2-0. Ward's goal was his fifth and sixth of the season.

Anderson junior Shalev Keter, assisted by Conor Kilgallon, scored the Trojans third goal of the match in the 81st minute of play.

Freshman Ben Lemen squeezed in his first career goal in the waning seconds of the second half.

Anderson outshot Mars Hill 13(8) – 6(2) and held the corner kick advantage 9-0.

Mars Hill's Eric Winkler recorded four saves.

Anderson will travel to nonconference opponent Lander on Wednesday. Kick-off is slated for 7 p.m.
