
Lions down Emmanuel in home opener
The Mars Hill women’s lacrosse team (2-0) defeated Emmanuel (1-1) by a score of 18-10 on Saturday night in their 2022 home opener.
MARS HILL, N.C. - The Mars Hill women's lacrosse team (2-0) defeated Emmanuel (1-1) by a score of 18-10 on Saturday night in their 2022 home opener.
Maria Fabrizio started the game off by scoring in the first two minutes, following was Tiffany Saavedra and Kiersten Foust setting the score to 3-0. Emmanuel's Justine Dorelas interrupted the streak and set the score to 3-1 with her first of the night. The Lions would close the first quarter out with a 9-5 advantage and enter the half leading 12-6.
After allowing Emmanuel to score six in the first half, the Lions were able to hold them to four goals in the second half.
Foust led the Lions with five goals in the game and following closely behind was Fabrizio with four goals and adding two assists for six points on the night. Dorales led Emmanuel with seven goals.
Lauren Bryner held the Lions together with 11 saves against 16 shots.
The Lions return home on Sunday, February 27 when they take on the University of Charleston at 2 p.m.
